Platform review
Fanvue review — the most credible OnlyFans alternative, with one caveat
Fanvue runs the same 80/20 economics as OnlyFans with a promotional 85% rate for your first year. The product is good. The referral small print says something different from the marketing, and that is worth knowing before you build a plan on it.
Disclosure: some links on this page are referral links. If you sign up through one we may be paid a commission by the platform, at no extra cost to you. We rank platforms on their terms, not their payouts — here is how.
Our verdict
The best place to build a second home if you already have an audience to bring — but check the referral small print, which says something different from the marketing.

Creator affiliate programme — up to 50% of fan payments
Often misreported as a way for websites to earn half of fan spend. It is not. It is a creator-to-creator marketplace: a "promoted creator" publishes an offer, other creators accept it and get an affiliate link, and the commission is paid out of the promoted creator's own net earnings. The rate is set by the promoted creator and capped at 50% of fan payments, with a $50,000 total cap per promoted creator and a maximum of five promoted creators at once. You need a creator account to take part.
Agency referral — 5% for 1 year, plus 2.5% second tier
Ran as a campaign between 2 February and 16 March 2026 rather than as a standing program. Do not build an agency-referral page around it without confirming it is open again.
Discovery and content policy
| Launched | 2020 |
|---|---|
| In-platform discovery | Effectively none. Minimal. Fanvue has a growing but modest fan base and no meaningful browse-and-discover surface for most niches. Assume 100% of your traffic is traffic you brought. |
| Adult content | Adult content permitted with age and identity verification. Standard prohibitions on illegal content apply. |
What Fanvue does well
- Promotional 85% rate for a new creator's first year, against OnlyFans' flat 80%
- Referral commission is credited as a separate balance and is not itself subject to platform fees
- Actively recruiting established creators, so support is responsive in a way large platforms rarely are
- Crypto payout option, which matters if your bank is hostile to adult-adjacent income
- AI creator tooling built in, if that is a direction you want
Where it costs you
- Far smaller fan base than OnlyFans — near-zero organic discovery, you bring the audience
- Promotional rates are explicitly withdrawable, and one cohort has already been moved off 85%
- Referral policy and help centre contradict each other on who funds the commission
- Minimum payout thresholds are not published up front
What Fanvue is actually competing on
Fanvue’s pitch is not that it has more fans than OnlyFans — it obviously does not — but that it treats creators better on terms and on support. On the evidence, that pitch is broadly honest. The promotional 85% rate is real, referral commission is credited as a separate balance that is not itself subject to platform fees, and support responsiveness is noticeably better than what creators are used to from platforms large enough not to care.
What you give up is discovery, almost entirely. Fanvue has a browsable surface, but for most niches it will not deliver a meaningful number of subscribers you did not personally send. If your plan is “sign up and get found”, this is the wrong platform, and no fee advantage compensates for an empty page.
The 85% rate, and what it is really worth
The arithmetic is straightforward: on $3,000 a month of gross earnings, 85% versus 80% is an extra $150 a month, or $1,800 across the first year. That is worth having and it is not worth reorganising your business around.
The more important detail is what happens next. Fanvue’s own earnings policy states that the standard rate is 80% and describes promotional rates as something it “may introduce, update, extend, reduce, or withdraw”. This is not hypothetical language — the cohort that joined on 85% in 2022 has already been transitioned to the standard 80%. Plan for 80% and treat the first year as a discount.
The referral program, and the number everyone gets wrong
Search for Fanvue’s referral terms and you will repeatedly find “5% for 36 months”. It is on large, well-ranked review sites, and it is the figure the brief for this very site was written from.
Fanvue’s own Creator Referral and Affiliate Policy says 5% of referred creator earnings for 12 months from the referred creator’s registration date, capped at $50,000 per referred creator. The help centre article says the same thing: “For every creator you refer, you earn 5% of their earnings for their first 12 months on the platform.”
That is a meaningful correction, because 36 months against OnlyFans’ 12 would make Fanvue’s program three times better. Twelve against twelve makes them equivalent on duration and cap, and the decision moves to other factors entirely — which is why LoyalFans, with credibly lifetime terms, ranks above Fanvue on referral value despite being the smaller platform.
The contradiction worth resolving before you promote it
Fanvue’s help centre reassures you that referring “won’t affect what the people you invite to Fanvue earn”. Its legal policy reads as though commission is deducted from the referred creator’s earnings rather than from Fanvue’s platform fee.
Both cannot be true, and the difference matters a lot if you refer creators. If commission comes out of the platform’s cut, you can tell a creator that signing up through your link costs them nothing. If it comes out of theirs, saying that is misleading — and it is the kind of thing that gets found out. Ask Fanvue support in writing, keep the reply, and describe the program the way the answer tells you to.
The affiliate programme is not what it is reported to be
The “up to 50% of fan payments” figure attached to Fanvue circulates as though it were an affiliate program a website could join. It is not.
It is a creator-to-creator marketplace. A “promoted creator” publishes an offer; other creators accept it and get an affiliate link; the commission is paid out of the promoted creator’s own net earnings, at a rate the promoted creator sets, capped at 50% of fan payments and $50,000 in total per promoted creator. A creator can be promoting a maximum of five others at once. To take part at all you need a verified Fanvue creator account.
It is a genuinely interesting mechanic for creators who cross-promote. It is not a route to earning half of fan spend by writing about Fanvue.
The agency referral tier was a campaign, not a program
Fanvue’s agency referral — 5% of a referred agency’s earnings for a year, plus 2.5% from agencies they in turn refer — ran between 2 February and 16 March 2026 as a campaign with a defined window. It may return; it is not currently something to build an evergreen page around. Confirm it is open before promoting it.
Payouts in practice
The pending period is the part that catches people out. Standard is 7 days, but Fanvue can extend it to 28 depending on verification status and risk assessment, and it does. After clearing, payouts are targeted within 10 business days of a valid request. Bank transfer, crypto wallets where supported, and third-party wallets are available; minimum thresholds vary by method and Fanvue does not publish them up front, which is a real annoyance when you are planning cash flow.
Crypto payouts deserve a mention on their own. If your bank has been difficult about adult-adjacent income — and plenty are — having a second, independent payout route is worth more than a percentage point of commission.
Verdict
Fanvue is the best-constructed alternative on this list and the one most actively trying to earn creators’ business. Take the 85% first year, expect 80% after it, and go in knowing that every subscriber is one you brought yourself.
On referrals, it is a solid twelve-month program with a $50,000 cap — good, not the three-year outlier it is frequently reported to be. If referral income is the point of the exercise rather than a bonus, read the referral programs comparison before you commit, because the ranking there is not the one you would expect.

Common questions
Does Fanvue actually pay 85%?
For new creators, Fanvue advertises a 15% platform fee for the first 12 months, so you keep 85%. After that you move to the standard 80%. Fanvue's earnings policy describes promotional rates as something it may introduce, update, extend, reduce or withdraw, and the 2022 cohort that signed up on 85% has already been moved to the standard rate. Treat the promotional rate as a first-year discount, not as the terms.
Is Fanvue's referral program 12 months or 36 months?
Twelve. Several large review sites state 36 months, but Fanvue's own Creator Referral and Affiliate Policy and its help centre article both say 5% of referred creator earnings for 12 months from the referred creator's registration date, capped at $50,000 per referred creator. Where a platform's own documentation and a third-party review disagree, the documentation is the thing you can hold them to.
Can a website earn 50% of fan payments through Fanvue's affiliate programme?
No. That figure is widely misreported. Fanvue's affiliate programme is a creator-to-creator marketplace — a promoted creator publishes an offer, other creators accept it and receive an affiliate link, and the commission is paid out of the promoted creator's own net earnings. The rate is set by the promoted creator and capped at 50% of fan payments. You need a creator account on Fanvue to participate at all.
How long do Fanvue payouts take?
Earnings clear a pending period of 7 days as standard, which can extend to 28 days depending on account verification and risk assessment. After that, Fanvue targets initiating a payout within 10 business days of a valid request. Bank transfer, crypto wallets where supported and third-party wallets are the available methods.
Is Fanvue better than OnlyFans?
For terms in your first year, yes — 85% against 80% is a real difference. For reaching fans, no, and it is not close. Fanvue has a fraction of the audience and no meaningful discovery surface, so every subscriber is one you brought. Most creators who do well on Fanvue treat it as a second platform running alongside an existing one rather than a replacement.
