Privacy
How CamGuides handles data. Short version: we collect almost none.
What we collect
This is a static site with no accounts, comments or forms, and it runs no advertising scripts. We do not sell data to anyone. The one thing we do collect is analytics, described immediately below, because we need to know which pages are worth maintaining.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used — pages viewed, roughly where in the world visitors are, which site referred them, and which links they click. Google sets cookies to do this and processes the data on our behalf, including outside the UK.
We record one custom event beyond the defaults. When you click a link to a creator platform, we log which platform it was, where on the page the link sat, and whether it was a referral link. That tells us which of our recommendations people act on. It is not tied to a name, email or account, because we hold none of those.
To opt out entirely, use Google's browser opt-out add-on, your browser's Do Not Track or tracking-protection settings, or any content blocker — all of them stop the tag loading, and nothing on this site breaks when they do.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent — for security and troubleshooting. These are retained for a limited period and are not used to identify individuals or combined with any other data.
Outbound links
When you click through to a creator platform, you leave this site and that platform's own privacy policy applies. Referral links may include a code identifying us as the referrer, so the platform can attribute a signup. That code identifies us, not you — we receive no personal information about anyone who signs up, only aggregate commission figures.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification and erasure over personal data we hold. In practice that means analytics data and hosting logs; we hold nothing that identifies you by name. To exercise those rights or ask what exists, email hello@camguides.com.
Changes
If we add anything that collects more than the above — advertising, remarketing pixels, a mailing list — we will say so here before it goes live, and on the disclosure page if it affects how the site is funded.
