Both platforms take 20%. Both leave you 80%. That applies across subscriptions, tips and pay-per-view on each, with no promotional rate and no volume tier on either.
Any comparison of these two that opens with fees is padding, because there is nothing there. The decision rests on one axis, and it is a big one.

Discovery is the entire argument
OnlyFans is a billing and delivery layer. It is extremely good at that job — the payment infrastructure is the most reliable in the category — but it does not find you fans. Its search and browse surfaces send meaningful traffic to a very small number of already-large accounts. For everyone else, every subscriber is one you personally drove there from X, Reddit, TikTok or somewhere else.
Fansly is the only platform we cover where the site itself contributes. Tag-based browsing puts a well-tagged profile in front of people looking at that tag, and in reasonably populated niches this produces a real trickle of subscribers who arrived without you sending them.
Be clear about the scale: it is a trickle, not a firehose, and nobody builds a business on Fansly discovery alone. But the difference between a trickle and nothing is enormous when you are starting out, and “nothing” is precisely what OnlyFans offers.
Where OnlyFans wins: friction
The counterweight is conversion, and it is substantial.
A fan clicking an OnlyFans link knows what the destination is, probably has an account, and quite possibly has a card on file. A fan clicking a Fansly link may have to decide whether to trust an unfamiliar platform, create an account and enter payment details. Each of those steps loses you some percentage of the people who were, a moment earlier, willing to pay you.
If your audience is already built and you are simply choosing a checkout, that friction is the only thing that matters and OnlyFans wins on it clearly.
Tiers and free profiles
Fansly’s second advantage is structural. It supports multiple subscription tiers on a single profile and free profiles with paid unlocks.
Tiers let you sell at $5 and $50 at once without running two accounts — useful because most creators price wrong initially, and on Fansly correcting that takes an afternoon rather than a migration.
Free-tier profiles matter more. They let you accumulate followers and visible social proof before asking anyone for money, which is the step where most new creators stall. Starting behind a paywall with an empty page is a hard sell; starting with a free page that converts a fraction of its followers is a much easier one. OnlyFans supports free pages too, but without the discovery to populate them the mechanic does far less work.
Payouts
Close to identical in practice. Both have a $20 minimum. OnlyFans clears a seven-day pending period and allows daily requests; Fansly pays weekly or on request after a pending period, and adds cryptocurrency as an option that OnlyFans does not offer.
Fansly’s verification and support queues can slow noticeably during growth spurts. Budget time for onboarding rather than discovering it the week you need money out.
Referrals
Not a reason to choose either.
OnlyFans pays 5% for 12 months capped at $50,000, from a program it cut from lifetime to twelve months in 2020 — retroactively, according to a class action filed in August 2026.

Verify before you plan
If referral income is part of why you are choosing, check your own Fansly creator dashboard and treat what it says as authoritative. Then read the referral programs comparison, because the best terms of the four belong to neither of these platforms.
The rule of thumb
No audience yet? Start on Fansly. Discovery and the free-tier funnel do part of the work, and that part is the hardest part.
Audience already built? Start on OnlyFans. Your fans recognise it, and removing friction is worth more to you than a discovery surface you do not need.
Leaving OnlyFans? Fansly is the destination that loses you the fewest subscribers — familiar interface, and enough creators have made the move that many fans already have an account.
